Close to the surface, heat from the friction of plates colliding affects our everyday. Steam, boiling water and mud, and deposits of minerals create a beautiful and sometimes terrifying landscape. We are learning to live with it, to use it sustainably in ways that enhance our world but always mindful that one wrong step, or nature just doing her thing, will be paid for.
